Tottenham’s Spanish defender Sergio Reguilon has completed his medical ahead of a move to Manchester United.
Reguilon’s deal to the Red Devils will include a break clause in the contract, meaning that he can be sent back to north London once Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are once again fit.
United’s need for a left back came after both their recognised left-sided full backs found themselves on the treatment table for an extended period of time.
The 26-year-old was granted permission to travel and undergo a medical with the Old Trafford club after talks for Chelsea‘s Marc Cucurella stalled.
Reguilon had been among United’s options following Shaw’s injury and they have now reverted to that deal

United’s talks over Marc Cucurella hit an impasse due to Chelsea’s demand for a £7m loan fee
Chelsea had initially demanded a £7m loan fee for Cucurella and the fact he played in the Carabao Cup last night also complicated plans.
United had wanted the option of an exit clause in January once Shaw is expected to be fit, however, Cucurella would not have been eligible to leave and appear for a third club this season.
There are concerns that Shaw could be out for around two months because of a muscle injury.
Reguilon joined Tottenham from Real Madrid in 2020 and has made 67 appearances for the north London club.
