Oda has recently revealed the designs of two overpowered Devil Fruits.
The One Piece world is filled with powerful mystical fruits that grant the eater unique abilities in exchange for their ability to swim. Devil Fruits form the primary power system in the world of One Piece and, over the years, fans have seen quite a lot of them in the story already. While a lot of powers have been displayed to the fans, only a handful of Devil Fruits have had their designs revealed.
With time, however, Oda is working on revealing the most important Devil Fruit designs to the fans, one by one. Fans have already seen quite a lot of incredible fruit designs in the story and now, two more have been revealed, thanks to the latest One Piece Magazine volume 17.
Devil Fruit Designs By Oda
Over the course of the years, Oda has revealed many Devil Fruit designs in the many One Piece magazines that have come out. These magazines give Oda a chance to provide fans with supplementary information and, at the same time, new Devil Fruit designs. Fans have seen quite a lot of these designs being revealed to the fans slowly. For instance, the designs of the likes of Katakuri’s devil fruit, the Mochi Mochi no Mi, were revealed in one of these magazines. At the same time, other Devil Fruits that are similar have also had their designs getting revealed. Even among the Straw Hat Pirates, fans have seen the Devil Fruit designs of the likes of Chopper’s Hito Hito no Mi, Nico Robin’s Hana Hana no Mi, and even Brook’s Yomi Yomi no Mi.
In the ranks of the Shichibukai, fans have seen the Kage Kage no Mi, which was eaten by Gecko Moria, the Suna Suna no Mi, which was eaten by Sir Crocodile, and even the Mero Mero no Mi, which was eaten by Boa Hancock. There are many other Devil Fruits that have been revealed to the fans over the years. Fans have seen some Worst Generation designs, such as Kid’s Jiki Jiki no Mi, and even the designs of some Baroque Works agents. What’s more, the Devil Fruit designs of Kaido and Yamato were also revealed to the fans, thanks to the One Piece Magazines. Now, Oda has revealed two more Devil Fruit designs to the fans and they are certainly incredible to look at.
The Design Of Goro Goro no Mi
The first Devil Fruit that Oda has revealed the design of in One Piece Magazine volume 17 is the powerful Goro Goro no Mi. Unsurprisingly, this fruit is yellow, just like Oda colors lightning in One Piece. The fruit is round and has protrusions shaped like lightning sparks. It is quite easy to make out that this Devil Fruit is related to electricity and will grant one such power. This design is absolutely beautiful and it is easy to tell that this is one of the overpowered fruits and the One Piece world. There are swirling patterns all over the fruit, as expected of any Devil Fruit. The stem of the Devil Fruit is shaped like a lightning bolt, which is, once again, an indication of the fact that this fruit offers tremendous powers related to lightning.
The One Piece magazine also goes into great detail about the abilities of this fruit. As fans know, this Devil Fruit is of the Logia type and that means it allows the user to become lightning itself. The user can also produce lightning as well as manipulate it according to their will. The voltage of electricity produced using this Devil Fruit depends entirely on the user. The user can produce a 200 million volt output attack or something much lower than that. The power of this Devil Fruit is absolutely immense and there are only a handful of Devil Fruits capable of holding their own against it. In fact, this Devil Fruit is believed to be one of the few invincible Devil Fruits in the world of One Piece. It doesn’t have many weaknesses and the power that it possesses is enough to destroy islands with ease.
Throughout the entirety of the Skypiea arc, fans got a proper look at what this Devil Fruit is capable of. The destructive power offered by this fruit is absolutely immense. It can destroy towns and cities without much trouble and, if pushed to the extreme, it can even erase entire islands, which just goes to show the devastating powers it possesses. Using the Goro Goro no Mi, Enel could enslave an entire country with ease. Any rebellion was crushed easily and he attained the position of God, which is surreal to think about. Furthermore, dating back to his own land, Birka, he completely demolished the island, likely using the power of Raigou, which can easily destroy an entire nation with rather ease. Other techniques, such as Mamaragan, can also cause large-scale destruction as it causes lightning showers or a very large space.
If all this was not enough, this Devil Fruit also heightens other abilities of the user. For instance, when combined with the power of Observation Haki, this fruit lets the user pick up electromagnetic signals from their surroundings and improve the range of this type of Haki over an entire country. Even something as simple as the dropping of a pin can be picked up by the user, which is nothing short of staggering. Furthermore, this fruit also grants the user the ability to restart their heart. This was seen in the Skypiea arc, after Enel was subject to a Reject Dial straight to the heart. Moments after his heart stopped beating, he used his fruit’s power to restart it and came back to life once again. Undoubtedly, this fruit deserves every bit of praise that it gets and, apart from the Gomu Gomu no Mi, it doesn’t have any other weakness.
The Design Of Horo Horo no Mi
One Piece Magazine volume 17 also went on to reveal the design of the Horo Horo no Mi. This Devil Fruit was eaten by Perona, who was formerly a member of the Thriller Bark Pirates. This crew, led by Moria, was encountered by the Straw Hat Pirates after the events of the Water 7 Saga. In this arc, fans got a proper look at the abilities of the Horo Horo no Mi. However, the design of the Devil Fruit was not revealed to the fans at all. One Piece Magazine volume 17 saw to it that fans get to see how this Devil Fruit looks.
The Horo Horo no Mi appears to hold a somewhat interesting appearance. The fruit is shaped like hollows coming from a stem. It has a total of five hollows which go down from the stem and then rise up at the end, similar to the hollows that Perona is able to produce. All of the extensions of the Devil Fruit have eyes drawn on them, which is a reference to the fact that this Devil Fruit is related to hollow manipulation. On the heads of these hollows, there is a swirly devil fruit pattern, which is an indication of the fact that this is a devil fruit. The stem of the fruit is a regular one and it twirls downwards on both ends.
When it comes to the powers of the Horo Horo no Mi, fans know that it offers an array of abilities. The ability of Negative Hollow allows Perona to produce a hollow that takes away the user’s will to find once hit with it. The fruit also grants the ability to cause mini-explosions using the hollows, thanks to a technique called Ghost Rap. At the same time, this fruit also gives the user the ability to create a hollow version of themselves, which almost makes it impossible to defeat them, unless the opponent knows the trick to its powers. If all that was not enough, this fruit also grants the ability to create a vast scouting network using the hollows. The seas around Thriller Bark were entirely scouted by Perona using her ghosts alone and that is certainly an incredible asset provided by this fruit.
