Bukayo Saka has been named England’s Player of the Year connected by EE for the second year in a row.
Saka’s electrifying performances for the Three Lions throughout the 2022/23 campaign earned him the accolade, which is voted for by the public.
He scored three goals in four games during his debut FIFA World Cup last December, picking up a Player of the Match trophy for his display against Iran, and bagged his first career hat-trick against North Macedonia in June.
Our winger was presented with the award on his 22nd birthday, which he spent at St. George’s Park ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday.
He remains the only Gunner to receive the honour since the award’s inception 19 years ago. The award caps off a winning week for Saka, who was recently crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year.
The 2022-23 England Women’s Player of the Year connected by EE will be revealed later this month. Beth Mead was last year’s winner following an incredible campaign at the 2022 European Championships.
