Over the last several years, Steph Curry has become one of the best players in the NBA and the greatest outside shooter in league history.
After he won his fourth world championship and first NBA Finals MVP in 2022, some felt he had become one of the greatest players of all time.
The Golden State Warriors guard is also one of the more likable superstars in any sport, as he seems approachable and doesn’t have any of the bluster that is expected from an elite jock.
During an appearance on “Gil’s Arena” with Gilbert Arenas, via ClutchPoints, Curry admitted to being a late bloomer, and he said that is where his motivation comes from.
As Curry said in the clip above, he wasn’t heavily recruited, and he played his college ball at Davidson College, which isn’t exactly a powerhouse school.
Even though he played well in the 2009-10 season as a rookie, he lost the Rookie of the Year award to Tyreke Evans, and he was thought to be brittle in his early years in the league.
But the arrival of head coach Steve Kerr in 2014 unlocked Curry’s potential, as Kerr started using Curry more off the ball, which got the guard more good looks.
In addition to his four NBA titles, Curry has two regular-season MVPs, two scoring titles, nine All-Star selections, and nine All-NBA nods under his belt.
At age 35, a point at which most NBA stars start slowing down if they haven’t already, Curry is still at the top of his game, which means that he can still add to his resume and gain even more recognition and respect.
