Devin Booker gives Kevin Durant’s mother a hug before the game

The NBA playoffs 2022-23 may all be about high-octane action, but there’s always room for wholesome moments, and one of them was Devin Booker hugging Kevin Durant’s mom, Wanda, during the pregame warmups ahead of Game 1 between the Phoenix Suns and the LA Clippers.

Booker shared a quick hug with Wanda Durant before he entered the court to some loud cheering from Suns fans at the Footprint Center on Sunday evening.

It’s well-documented that Wanda has been one of Durant’s biggest supporters, and now it appears she loves the Suns’ side with the hug to Booker showing she was rooting for the young guard to do well.

Phoenix didn’t end Game 1 with the outcome they wanted, as they went down 115-110 to the LA Clippers. The visitors were led by Kawhi Leonard’s 38-point performance and Russell Westbrook’s efforts on the defensive end.

Durant and Booker had 27 and 26 points, respectively, but it wasn’t enough to get the Suns over the line. The good news is that they have six more games to make a difference. And rest assured, Wanda will surely be on the sidelines cheering for her son and the Suns’ squad.

Devin Booker And Kevin Durant Reflect On The Suns’ Loss

It was a tough pill to swallow for the Suns, who led the second and the third quarter only to be halted on their tracks in the final stretch.

Speaking to the media after the game, the veteran forward hoped that the team would recoup and focus on getting a win. “We definitely would like to have better starts, but sometimes that happens,” Durant said, via ESPN. “It is all about how you bounce back from it.”

“We understand it is not going to be easy,” Booker added. “It gets harder from here. Thinking back to my first (playoffs), every loss is the worst thing ever, and with every win, you are going to win the rest of them. That’s just how the playoffs go.”

The Suns and Clippers meet again on Tuesday at the Footprint Center, where they will look to stage a comeback.
