Goku’s Genki Lady in Dragon Ball may be the most powerful force in the universe, but it also has the potential to be a weapon of mass destruction.
On one of the rare occasions when Goku in Dragon Ball needed the help of a non-combatant to defeat an opponent, he summoned all of humanity to give all their energy to help him against a Kid Boo who until then was unstoppable. While humanity responded to his plea for help (well, it was actually Mr Satan’s request), that same help also showed how the same link Goku shared with humanity could have killed them all.
While Kid Boo may not have been Majin Boo’s strongest form, this form was one of Goku’s toughest opponents. The embodiment of ancient, rampant and incredibly violent evil, Kid Boo’s genius was that he would do anything, even if it meant getting hurt to win a battle. He also had a number of specialized powers and techniques, such as the ability to instantly regenerate any part of his body that was damaged, and the ability to gain his opponent’s power after absorbing them, which were impossible for Goku to overcome. Kid Boo was so powerful that he was able to face a Goku Super Saiyan 3, Fat Boo (good), and Vegeta in the form of Super Saiyan 2, and almost defeated them all. Ultimately, to destroy Kid Boo it was necessary to make a Genki Lady, formed by Goku and filled with the energy of all humanity. It produced such incredible power that on impact, Kid Boo was literally evaporated at the cellular level.
The “Genki Lady” that Goku used to defeat Kid Boo is a peculiar attack. As explained in Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Z #18 manga, once a person learns to form one, he feeds it by borrowing the energy from all living things: plants, animals, or aliens, which they have chosen as their energy source. Depending on the number of things available for the user to extract energy, a Genki Lady has the potential to be extremely powerful, as demonstrated against Kid Boo. That’s why the strategy of calling all of humanity to increase their energy for Goku against Kid Boo was the differentiator.
The problem and risk, from Genki Dama, is that if the user is not careful, inexperienced in using it, or if the user is simply evil, he can “borrow” the energy from a source until there is none left. That is, they can be sucked up to the point of leaving them dead. Although this problem is evident in any use of a Genki Dame, the risk of it occurring increases when the energy is given voluntarily, as in the case of the Genki Lady used in the incredibly strong form against Kid Boo. Goku could have unilaterally taken humanity’s energy without his permission, but that would take time. In his downcast state at that moment, he may not have the energy to carry out the energy transfer. However, by giving his energy, humanity did the “heavy lifting” while Goku just needed to be a conduit.
