New information from the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie provides even more sinister hints about the Red Ribbon Army’s secret weapon.
A new preview of the magazine once again suggests that the Red Ribbon Army has another secret up its sleeve in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
The latest issue of the V Jump manga magazine provides another look at the latest Dragon Ball movie. The preview pages were scanned by the Twitter user @DBSHype and translated by @DBSChronicles. In addition to going over Piccolo’s new transformation and his secret mission at Red Ribbon Army headquarters, the magazine once again discussed the mysterious machine at the center of the new Red Ribbon Army base, which is apparently preparing another threat to Earth’s heroes beyond the two new android warriors, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2. The magazine shows another photo of the spherical device inside Dr. Hedo’s lab, which the article describes by saying, “It glows with a red light and shows sinister fetal movements. New super weapon?”
The sinister machine was previously described as harboring something in an “embryonic state,” suggesting that an as-yet-unrevealed character is being incubated within it. Rumors surfaced for several weeks that the film would feature the return of Cell, a genetically engineered android warrior from Dragon Ball Z. Fans have noticed that the two new androids, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2, bear some resemblance to the classic villain. which was created by scientist Dr. Gero who was part of the Red Ribbon when Goku was a child. The film will also focus on the master-disciple relationship between Piccolo and Gohan, who was the one who defeated Cell in the original series.
The new film features an original story set several years after the events of Dragon Ball Super: Broly. In addition to Gohan and Piccolo, the new film will also feature Pan, Goten, and Trunks, who have been given new designs to reflect how much they’ve aged since the previous film.
Super Hero was recently given a new release date in Japan, June 11. The film was originally planned to premiere on April 22, but production on the film was delayed after Toei Animation (which is the studio that has produced all anime adaptations of Dragon Ball since the 1980s) was hit by a targeted ransomware attack on March 6. Dragon Ball Super: The North American release of Super Hero was originally planned to follow the Japanese premiere sometime this summer; The film’s producers have not yet announced whether the film will still be released internationally in the same opening window, or if its release has been delayed in the same way.
