It’s Not Even Close – Dragon Ball Officially Settled Broly Vs. Jiren in One Epic Brawl

Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission shows fans what would happen if Broly and Jiren were ever to clash, revealing a decisive winner.

In recent times, one of the most popular Dragon Ball debates has become Broly, the Legendary Super Saiyan, versus Jiren the Grey. While Jiren has never fought Dragon Ball Super‘s version of Broly, he has duked it out with a version more akin to the Dragon Ball Z films, and that fight showed just why he would come out on top in this battle of titanic proportions.

In Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission chapter 2, Broly finds Jiren and Yamcha wandering through the arena of the Super Space-Time Tournament. While Yamcha is swatted away easily, Jiren poses a much bigger threat to the sadistic Saiyan. Broly, as per usual, announces his desire to find and kill Kakarot, also known as Goku. Thanks to remembering Vegeta referring to Goku as Kakarot, Jiren refuses to let Broly advance.

Jiren Handily Defeats Broly With One Move

The fight begins with Broly showing that he is clearly no slouch despite Jiren’s tremendous power reserves. Jiren even comments to himself that Broly is quite nimble for a character of his size, suggesting that the Saiyan isn’t inhibited by his muscle mass like Future Trunks was when he fought Cell. Broly even tries one of his most classic moves, smashing his opponent’s head into a wall with his bare hands, but Jiren is entirely unfazed. At this point the assassin from Universe 6, Hit, offers to help Jiren take Broly out before he becomes a nuisance. In typical Jiren fashion, he refuses and elects to battle Broly on his own, ignoring Hit’s Time-Skip and knocking the savage warrior out with a single blow.

The Broly versus Jiren match-up is a contentious one, mainly because Dragon Ball Super’s Broly movie happened after the Tournament of Power, and thus Goku and Vegeta should have been much stronger than they were before, yet still couldn’t handle Broly. However, though it often needs to be restated, Jiren himself could not be brought down by a single foe on his own in the Tournament of Power either. Furthermore, Broly never fought Ultra Instinct Goku, who could very well be even stronger than Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta.

Jiren’s battle against this alternate Broly demonstrates one of the key factors deciding a win in Jiren’s favor – he wastes no time whatsoever taking Broly out. One of Broly’s most defining features is his ability to constantly increase in power as a battle draws out, bringing his power to ever more ridiculous heights over the course of minutes. Jiren, however, seems to be more than willing to end a fight immediately, circumventing Broly’s major advantage.

Jiren’s ability to put the alternate timeline Broly in the dirt so quickly speaks volumes about how he would handle a battle with Dragon Ball Super’s Broly. If Goku or Vegeta had gone all out from the start, Broly would have been taken out easily and never been afforded the opportunity to grow his power by that much. In contrast, Dragon Ball’s Jiren has what it takes to shut down Broly‘s most powerful asset in his arsenal before it can even be used.
