The Iron Giant is sure to play an essential role during the Egghead Island arc.
The Iron Giant was recently introduced in One Piece during the Egghead arc. Its importance to the ongoing saga is tremendous and, although only a bit of information was provided to the fans about it, it has already been established that this Iron Giant is going to be significant both in piecing together the true history of the world and, at the same time, shaping a better future in the One Piece world.
In the Egghead Island arc itself, the Iron Giant is most definitely going to play a big role and fans are on the edge, waiting for that to happen as the story proceeds.
What Is The Iron Giant On Egghead?
The Iron Giant was revealed not long after the Egghead Island arc began. Shortly after the beginning of the saga, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates were seen exploring Egghead Island, the island of the future. Naturally, Luffy went to many places on the island and then explored the various technologies present there, such as the many holograms and things such as automated food machines, among others. While the wonders of technology were mind-boggling on this island, nothing was as impressive as the Iron Giant. Luffy and a section of the exploration group came across this Iron Giant in a junkyard. Naturally, everyone believed the Iron Giant to be a scrap of metal, however, it was revealed that this Iron Giant was actually far more technologically advanced than anything present on the island.
In fact, it was evident that the giant was not from the past but from the future, in a way. While it is true that the Iron Giant actually existed in the past, the fact is that it is far more advanced than anything that exists in the current world. Simply put, the civilization that existed long ago in the One Piece world was far more advanced than the one that exists currently and much of that is down to the World Government and the order that they have established. The Iron Giant itself appears to have been an ally of the Ancient Kingdom. It was likely built by the people of this Kingdom and, 200 years ago, it was on the move. This Iron Giant climbed the Red Line 200 years ago, the same year when the Fishman were starting to demand their rights.
The goal of the Iron Giant was likely to destroy Marijoa and it certainly had the power to do that, given that it ran on Ancient Energy. However, through some unknown means, the Iron Giant was deactivated, and, from there onwards, it was dismantled and put in the Egghead junkyard. This Iron Giant has been sleeping there ever since without a source of power that even Vegapunk failed to recreate. However, now is the time for the Iron Giant to shine once again and fans absolutely cannot wait for it to return to action.
The Awakening Of The Iron Giant
In the later phase of Egghead Island, once the war began, the Iron Giant finally managed to awaken after 200 years. This was something that Game Rant had already predicted would happen in the arc as Oda had already laid clues for this behind. This awakening came through Luffy, the Warrior of Liberation. As soon as Luffy tapped into his giant state in Gear 5, his Drums of Liberation started reverberating around the entire island and likely reached the Iron Giant as well. Immediately after, the eyes of the Iron Giant lit up once again and it was confirmed that it had powered up once again.
Evidently, it seems that the drums of liberation are a source of power for the Iron Giant to work, however, that raises the question as to how, 200 years ago, this Iron Giant was working as Joyboy had already died nearly 800 years ago. These are questions that only Oda can answer going forward in the story, however, for now, fans can, at the very least, establish the fact that the Iron Giant works in conjunction with Gear 5 and the source of Ancient Energy is none other than Luffy himself.
With the Iron Giant finally having awakened, fans can fully expect it to play a significant role in the Egghead Island arc. This Iron Giant is tremendously powerful and, given that it was created by people who are technologically far ahead of even the likes of Vegapunk, one can expect this giant to be on a completely different level altogether.
Vegapunk himself created the Vegaforce 02 based on the giant, however, its strength isn’t all that great since it doesn’t run on ancient energy. Vegapunk believes that with ancient energy, everything would be possible. It appears that this ancient energy is something significant and, given that the Iron Giant has it in abundance, its power can be tremendous as well. Furthermore, the fact that it could have destroyed Marijoa 200 years ago suggests that it is not a giant that can simply be destroyed by just anyone. The Iron Giant is likely very strong and that gives the Straw Hat Pirates a massive boost during the war of Egghead Island.
The Role Of The Iron Giant In The Final Saga
The role of the Iron Giant in the Final Saga of One Piece is going to be of tremendous importance. First off, the giant has to help the Straw Hat Pirates on Egghead Island. They are currently facing a desperate situation where a siege was laid by 30,000 people on 100 ships. Breaking through this siege would be almost impossible and the Straw Hat Pirates cannot escape even if they use Coup De Burst, since Vegaforce 02 is now destroyed.
This is where the Iron Giant comes in. The goal of the Iron Giant would be to destroy the siege and pave the way for the Straw Hat Pirates to escape after the battle on Egghead Island is done and the enemies are defeated. Furthermore, all the Mark 3 Pacifistas are also enemies of the Iron Giant to fight. Mark 3 Pacifistas are, simply put, cyborgs created with the goal of achieving technological excellence. However, the peak of technology that currently exists on Egghead Island is the Iron Giant itself. It would be perfect for this giant to showcase its superiority by putting it up against the likes of the Mark 3 Pacifistas. As such, the goal for it has already been established and that is to crush all the Pacifistas first and then break through the siege, paving the way for the Straw Hat Pirates to escape after the likes of Saturn and Kizaru, along with all the Vice Admirals on the island, are dealt with.
However, the role of the Iron Giant is not going to stop there. It is highly likely that the Iron Giant will continue on its endeavors and go with the Straw Hat Pirates to Elbaf. The land of giants is where the Straw Hats might find out a lot of the history of the world and potentially, even the name of the Ancient Kingdom. As such, a lot of information could also be divulged about the Iron Giant itself, along with how they can best use it in the final saga. The Iron Giant might even end up fighting with the Straw Hat Pirates in the Great War that is to come and fans should absolutely be excited for that.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. Unfortunately, One Piece will be on break next week. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1096, is set to be October 29, 2023.
